Vinted Members Express Anger Over Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
